Monrovia, Liberia — The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Justice – Liberia, has ordered the immediate suspension of all activities linked to a group calling itself the National Fula Security of Liberia (NFSL), declaring the entity unauthorized and in violation of national security laws.

In a firm statement issued Monday, the Ministry said it had observed growing public concern following the circulation of images, recruitment messages, and organizational claims by the group on social media. Authorities clarified that the government has not granted any permit, license, registration, or operational approval for the establishment of such a body.

According to the Justice Ministry, Liberian law strictly regulates the creation of any security or paramilitary organization. The formation of such bodies requires a comprehensive approval process involving institutional vetting, security reviews, and regulatory compliance through the Ministry’s Division of Public Safety.

Officials confirmed that no application or authorization process has ever been initiated by the organizers of the NFSL.

“The Government will not recognize, legitimize, or tolerate the formation of unauthorized security structures, particularly those organized along ethnic or sectarian lines,” the Ministry emphasized.

The Ministry has therefore ordered the immediate cessation of all recruitment, mobilization, promotional, and operational activities associated with the group. Authorities warned that any continued actions could trigger criminal prosecution and administrative sanctions under Liberian law.

Security agencies, including the Liberia National Police, have been instructed to launch investigations into the organizers and activities linked to the entity.

Reassuring citizens of its commitment to national stability, the Ministry stressed that the responsibility for public security rests solely with constitutionally recognized state institutions.

Residents have been urged to avoid engagement with any unauthorized security formations and to report suspicious activities to authorities.

The statement, signed by Press Director Jutonu Y. Kollie, was also copied to several national and international stakeholders, including the Press Union of Liberia, the U.S. Embassy Monrovia, the Executive Mansion Liberia, and other government bodies.

The Ministry concluded by reaffirming that Liberia remains a state governed by law, stressing that no group — regardless of identity or intent — can assume national security functions outside the legal framework.

Authorities say monitoring of the situation continues and further enforcement measures will follow if violations persist.
