By Ganta, Nimba – The Ministry of Education has announced the immediate temporary closure of J.W. Pearson High School following the discovery of a suspicious explosive device on the school premises in Ganta City, Nimba County.
Earlier Friday, what appeared to be explosive devices were discovered protruding from the ground in the middle of the campus. following the discovery, the Liberian National Police were promptly informed and conducted an initial inspection of the site.
According to a release, Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, has directed that all students and staff remain off-campus until further notice to ensure their safety. The Liberian National Police and Military have been notified and are currently assessing the situation. Authorities have advised that the campus be quarantined until their investigation and intervention are complete.
“Our primary concern is the safety of our students, teachers, and staff.” the release added. The Ministry further noted that they will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.
