Drugs Kill Daily‎

Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia is drowning in a wave of tragic deaths linked to narcotic substance abuse, with lifeless bodies of young people being discovered almost every day in different communities.

‎Since the recent “Say No To Drugs” protest in Monrovia, street reports indicate that the death toll has continued to climb, with over 24 deaths recorded in just nine days.

‎From Bardnersville to Logan Town, Caldwell to Grand Bassa, communities are waking up to heartbreaking scenes of young people collapsing after taking a dangerous new substance known on the streets as the “Solar Plate Android.”

‎One of the most disturbing reports came from Johansen Community, where a young man trembled, shivered, and collapsed just minutes after consuming the drug. In Duport Road, a man identified as “Black Sha,” once deported from the United States, died after years of struggling with substance abuse.

‎Eyewitnesses including local bloggers also reported another body discovered near Representative Michael Thomas’ fence in Charles Sirleaf Community. In Caldwell, residents described Liberia as turning into a “Dead Body Republic” as drug-related deaths continue to surge.

‎Doctors at JFK Hospital of recent have been reportedly battling to save the lives of survivors. In one incident, four young men overdosed  two died instantly, one passed away hours later in the hospital, and only one is still fighting for his life. Medical workers are urgently calling for Naloxone, a life-saving antidote, to prevent further deaths.

‎Community members say the government must act immediately before Liberia loses an entire generation to narcotics.
