Court Orders Police to Enforce CDC Eviction from Party HQ in Cong Town but Party SG Rejects

Monrovia, Liberia – The Sixth Judicial Circuit Court has ordered Police Inspector General Col. Gregory Coleman to immediately enforce the eviction of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) from its party headquarters in Cong Town.

‎The directive, issued under the authority of His Honour George W. Smith, Assigned Circuit Judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court, Montserrado County, and sitting in its June Term A.D. 2025, states in part:

‎The court, through an official communication, has mandated the Liberia National Police to provide armed officers to execute a writ of possession in favor of the intestate estate of the late Martha Stubblefield Bernard. The case was filed by the estate’s administrator, Mr. Ebrima Varney Dempster, against the CDC, represented by its Acting Chairman, Janga A. Kowo.

‎The legal matter is titled: IN RE: The Intestate Estate of Martha Stubblefield Bernard, by and through its Administrator, Ebrima Varney Dempster – Plaintiff, versus Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), represented by its Acting Chairman, Janga A. Kowo – Defendant, in an action of summary proceedings to recover possession of real property.

‎The court’s order directs the police to act “effectively and immediately” in enforcing the eviction, which stems from a legal dispute over the ownership and control of the property currently housing the CDC headquarters in Monrovia.

‎“You are hereby requested to kindly assist this Court with some armed police officers for the execution of a writ of possession in the below cause of action,” the court’s communication stated.

Meanwhile, ‎CDC’s Secretary General, Jefferson Tamba Koijee, has dared the Liberia National Police to approach the party’s headquarters in an attempt to execute a court-ordered eviction.

‎Koijee, speaking live via mobile on Freedom Radio, accused President Joseph Boakai of masterminding what he called a “so-called eviction” as part of an early intimidation tactic aimed at rigging the 2029 elections.

‎He announced that all members of the CDC are to assemble at the party headquarters tomorrow for a mass meeting to be addressed by the Party Chairman.
