Monrovia, Liberia – In a strong display of unity and commitment to national progress, the Executive Committee of Liberia’s ruling Unity Party has pledged its full support to the administration of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai and Vice President-Jewel Howard Taylor. The committee’s resolution, read by party Secretary General Amos Tweh, highlighted the critical need for transparency, accountability, and unity within the government to ensure the successful implementation of Liberia’s development agenda.

Addressing members of the Unity Party and key government officials, Secretary General Tweh emphasized that achieving the country’s development goals would require a concerted effort from all sectors of society. He urged both the Unity Party and the broader government to work together cohesively, stressing that the successful implementation of the ARREST Agenda—an ambitious development plan for Liberia—relies heavily on collaboration across government ministries, agencies, and commissions.

“The achievement of President Boakai’s vision for Liberia, as demonstrated in his election on January 22, 2024, requires unwavering support from all members of the Unity Party and government officials alike,” Tweh said. “To realize the president’s vision, it is crucial that public officials place the nation’s interests above personal or partisan agendas.”

The Unity Party, which has long played a central role in Liberia’s political landscape, also reiterated the importance of integrity in governance. The party’s resolution called for heightened focus on transparency, especially in tackling corruption, which has been a longstanding challenge in the country. “Public officials must act with integrity and prioritize the well-being of the nation,” the resolution stated.

The committee further stressed that Cabinet Ministers and heads of government agencies must seek prior approval from the Cabinet before making decisions that could have significant implications for Liberia’s future. This directive aims to ensure that key decisions are aligned with the country’s overall strategic goals and are made in consultation with the wider government leadership.

In his remarks, the Unity Party’s National Chairman, Reverend J. Luther Tarpeh, underscored the importance of internal cohesion within the party. He called on Unity Party officials to foster greater cooperation and solidarity as they work towards advancing the party’s mission and supporting the Boakai administration.

“The NEC’s resolution emphasized that the Unity Party is not just an ally to President Boakai but a driving force behind Liberia’s future growth and transformation,” Reverend Tarpeh said. “We remain resolute in our role as a key partner in advancing the country’s prosperity, underlining the importance of unity and shared responsibility among all stakeholders.”

The Unity Party’s pledge to work hand-in-hand with the Boakai-Koung administration comes at a critical time for Liberia, as the new government sets its sights on implementing the ARREST Agenda and addressing the country’s pressing challenges. The party’s leaders made it clear that while they remain committed to advancing the national interest, their vision of Liberia’s future will only be realized through collective effort, transparency, and a focus on the greater good.

As the Unity Party positions itself as both a partner and a pillar of Liberia’s progress, the call for cooperation, integrity, and unity within the government resonates as a vital element in ensuring that Liberia moves forward on its path to sustainable development.
