Monrovia, Liberia — Despite the stalemate among House of Representatives over speaker Koffa’s Removal, The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced a mission to Liberia from November 6 to 19, 2024, to conduct the first review of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program established with the Liberian government. Mr. Daehaeng Kim, the IMF mission chief for Liberia, will lead the delegation.
In a letter addressed to Hon. J. Fonati Koffa, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the IMF expressed the intention to hold a joint meeting with Koffa and House leadership on November 18, 2024. The meeting aims to provide updates on the ECF program and discuss its implications for Liberia’s economic outlook.
This mission comes at a crucial time as Liberia continues to navigate economic challenges. The ECF program, designed to support economic reforms and stability, is essential for the country’s development and recovery efforts. The upcoming review will assess progress made under the program and address any necessary adjustments.
The IMF’s engagement with Liberia underscores its commitment to fostering economic growth and stability in the region. The outcome of this mission could significantly influence Liberia’s financial trajectory and relations with international financial institutions.
