Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) has officially signed a $121,000 agreement with JES Engineering, a local firm, aimed at completing the first floor of its new four-story multipurpose headquarters located on the Robertsfield Highway in the Tower Hill Community.

The contract was finalized on October 15 during a signing ceremony led by LNBA President Sylvester D. Rennie and JES General Manager Joseph S. Dennis. The event took place at the LNBA’s Ashmun Street office, with notable attendees including project manager Cllr. Bobby Livingstone and various staff members from both organizations.

Cllr. Rennie emphasized that the project is entirely funded through membership dues and fees, underscoring the association’s commitment to leveraging its own resources for development.

He explained that the selection of JES Engineering followed a competitive bidding process initiated about three months ago, which allowed only Liberian-owned companies to submit proposals. “We were able to secure a 100% Liberian-owned firm for this important project,” Rennie stated.

The timeline for the project is set at eight months, during which the first floor is expected to be completed for use by bar members. Rennie expressed gratitude towards former LNBA leaders Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe and Cllr. Moses Paegar, acknowledging their contributions to advancing this initiative.

Rennie also noted that his administration is dedicated to ensuring the project’s completion within the promised timeframe. “Our leadership will go down in history as the first to finish the first floor,” he affirmed.

The LNBA President addressed past challenges, including delays attributed to funding issues and complications with a previous contractor, GeoScope Limited. “We had to terminate our contract with GeoScope due to their default on the project,” he explained, adding that legal action against the company is being considered.

With a solid financial strategy now in place, Rennie confirmed that sufficient funds have been raised to proceed with the project. He assured members that he is committed to seeing the first floor completed before the end of his term, with JES General Manager Dennis promising adherence to the eight-month timeline.
