The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced the immediate dismissal of Corporal Sabastine G. Weedee from the Police Support Unit (PSU) due to criminal misconduct.
The decision comes after a complaint was lodged by Estella Metzger, an employee of the United Bank of Africa (UBA). Metzger reported that Officer Weedee, who had visited the UBA’s 5th Street branch in Sinkor under the guise of conducting official business, was seen stealing $100 from a customer’s deposit left unattended at her desk.
Following the complaint, an internal investigation revealed that Weedee admitted to the theft. He has been charged with theft of property and his actions have been deemed a severe breach of Section 8.1(a) of the Liberia National Police Disciplinary Regulations of 2016.
As part of his dismissal, Corporal Weedee has been ordered to cease all association with the Liberia National Police to prevent further embarrassment. Additionally, he must return all government-issued property, including his badge, uniform, ID card, and other equipment, to the Human Resource Management Division of the LNP.
The LNP’s swift action underscores its commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within its ranks.
