The military plane that was carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima of Malawi was located after it vanished on Monday.
According to the DAILY POST, on Monday morning, the military aircraft carrying the vice president and nine other people—among them the former first lady, Shanil Dzimbiri—failed to land.
The vice president and the other nine people were scheduled to attend Ralph Kasambala’s burial in Mzuzu. Kasambala was a well-known attorney from Malawi who served as both the country’s attorney general and minister of justice.
In order to find the whereabouts of the missing aircraft, President Lazarus Chakwera had directed national and regional authorities to launch an emergency search and rescue effort. The Dornier 228 military aircraft, according to information obtained by DAILY POST, was discovered in the Chikangawa Forest early on Tuesday.
It was reported that every passenger on board had died.
