FARSUTO TOWN, Gbarpolu County – The family of the Executive Director of the Law Reform Commission, Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah, on Sunday, October 4, 2026, hosted a befitting traditional and Islamic memorial feast in honor of his late mother, Watta Mamalone Varmah, in Farsuto Town, Gbarpolu County.

The solemn yet celebratory homegoing memorial brought together an array of family members, elders, women groups, and prominent citizens of Gbarpolu, including members of the Gbarpolu County Bar Association who turned out in solidarity with their colleague.

Held in line with Islamic and traditional rites, the ceremony was marked by soul-stirring Quranic recitations, fervent prayers for the departed, traditional rice pounding by women, cultural drumming, folk songs, and the symbolic slaughtering of a sheep.

The feast was not only a moment of mourning, but also a celebration of a life well lived. Relatives and residents described the late Watta Mamalone Varmah as a devout Muslim, a compassionate mother, and a community matriarch whose kindness, wisdom, and moral uprightness touched many lives in Farsuto and beyond.

Cllr. Varmah, flanked by his brothers and sisters, led the family in paying final respects, thanking the community for standing with them during their period of bereavement.

The memorial climaxed at a local mosque where imams offered special Duas, committing the soul of the late Watta Mamalone Varmah to Allah (SWT) and praying for Allah’s forgiveness, mercy, and grant of Jannatul Firdaus.

Until her demise, Madam Varmah was a respected elder and mother figure in Gbarpolu County.
