MARGIBI COUNTY, Liberia — Michael Browne, who is also known as Rahim Bah and has been named a key figure in an alleged US$19 million cocaine trafficking case, is reported to have left his residence in Smell No Taste.
The reported departure comes as investigators continue to pursue the high-profile narcotics matter, and has renewed public scrutiny of how the case is being handled.
Questions over the investigation
Observers and critics have raised concerns about the Joint Security team leading the probe, alleging without providing public evidence that the unit has been compromised. Those claims remain unsubstantiated, and officials have not commented on them.
Authorities silent on next steps
As of publication, law enforcement agencies have not confirmed Browne’s location or provided an update on the status of the investigation. No official statement has been issued regarding the reported flight from Margibi County.
The US$19 million cocaine scandal is one of Liberia’s most closely watched drug cases in recent years, with pressure mounting on security agencies to account for progress and maintain public confidence in the process.
