Renowned gospel artist Mercy Chinwo has taken legal action against controversial blogger VeryDarkMan (VDM), filing a lawsuit before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja. Chinwo is seeking N1.1 billion in damages over alleged defamatory statements made against her and her brand.

In addition to financial compensation, Chinwo’s legal team is requesting a court order compelling VDM to delete all allegedly false statements, issue a public retraction, and formally apologize for the damaging claims.

The lawsuit underscores the growing tension between public figures and digital commentators, as celebrities increasingly turn to legal measures to protect their reputations in the face of online controversies.
