The endorsed Speaker of the Majority Bloc of the House of Representatives, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, alongside Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah, led members of the House of Representatives in paying their respects at the state funeral of the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson. The solemn ceremony took place on the grounds of the Capitol Building.
During his tribute, Hon. Koon described the late Senator as a remarkable statesman whose contributions to Nimba County and Liberia were extraordinary. “His legacy of service to his constituents and his country will forever remain in our hearts. Senator Johnson will be deeply missed,” Koon remarked.
The ceremony was highlighted by the lying-in-state of Senator Johnson in front of the Rotunda of the Capitol Building. Several dignitaries were in attendance, including Vice President Jeremiah Koung, President Pro Tempore of the Senate Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence, members of the Liberian Senate, and citizens of Nimba County, who gathered to honor his memory.
In a statement, the House of Representatives announced plans to join the Nimba County Legislative Caucus for the official home-going ceremony of their fallen colleague, scheduled for this weekend in Nimba County.
The late Senator Prince Y. Johnson was a towering figure in Liberian politics, remembered for his dedication and commitment to serving his people. His legacy of leadership and service will be celebrated during the upcoming ceremonies in Nimba County, where he leaves behind a profound impact on his constituents and the nation as a whole.
