Monrovia, Liberia — As part of efforts to enhance Liberia’s digital infrastructure, the Government of Liberia and the Cybastion Institute of Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday. The agreement focuses on the establishment of a data center and the addition of underwater cable infrastructure in the country.
The signing ceremony took place with H.E. Mme Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing the Liberian government, while Dr. Thierry Wandji, cofounder and CEO of Cybastion, signed on behalf of his organization. Dr. Wandji is also a board member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, with a strong background in cybersecurity and e-government solutions.
This partnership marks the initiation of technical discussions among relevant government agencies aimed at advancing the “Digital Fast Track” (DFT) Program. This initiative seeks to enhance Liberia’s digital services and infrastructure, fostering greater digital transformation across the nation.
Several top government officials were present at the ceremony, underscoring the importance of this collaboration. Cybastion Institute has a proven track record in implementing cybersecurity and digital transformation projects throughout Africa, with successful initiatives in countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, and Namibia.
With this new partnership, Cybastion aims to expand its efforts into more West African nations, including Guinea, Ghana, and Sierra Leone, further strengthening regional digital capabilities.
As Liberia embarks on this digital journey, the government remains committed to building a robust digital economy, positioning the country as a leader in technological advancement in the region.
