Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has announced a fresh round of appointments in several key government institutions, signaling what many observers see as a continued push to reinforce public sector accountability and service delivery.
The latest nominees, announced Tuesday by the Executive Mansion, cut across the judiciary, aviation, higher education, and concessions management — sectors viewed as critical to national stability and reform.
At the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Mrs. Shoanna Cachelle Solomon has been named to the Board of Directors, a role that places her at the center of ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s airport infrastructure and operations.
Over at the National Center for the Coordination of Response Mechanism (NCCRM) — an entity focused on national security coordination — President Boakai appointed Mr. Arthur Bestman as Executive Director, and Madam Sophie M.P. Reeves as his deputy.
In the concessions sector, the National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) will now be headed by Cllr. B. Rachell Yabah-Duobah as Officer-in-Charge, pending confirmation where applicable. The move comes amid growing calls for improved oversight of concession agreements across the country.
Meanwhile, the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) has a new Officer-in-Charge, Rev. Monen J. Duoe, who is expected to help stabilize operations at the regulatory body overseeing tertiary institutions.
In the judiciary, Cllr. Kuku Y. Dorbor has been named Judge of Criminal Court “E”, 1st Judicial Circuit, Montserrado County — a court that handles cases involving sexual and gender-based violence.
While the Executive Mansion emphasized that the appointments are in line with President Boakai’s “commitment to strengthening governance institutions and ensuring effective service delivery,” analysts note that the timing underscores a broader effort to consolidate administrative control as the government approaches its first full year in office.
The nominees will assume office following confirmation where required by law.
