‎Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has once again proven its dominance on the pitch, clinching the Intra-Governmental Sports League championship for the second consecutive year after edging past the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) with a thrilling 1–0 victory at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

‎The fiercely contested final attracted a lively crowd of government officials, sports fans, and civil servants, all cheering as the Marine Strikers battled their way to victory. The tense encounter was decided in the second half when playmaker Joseph WeahDoh Jr. delivered a masterful assist to Boakai Foday, who calmly slotted home the winning goal, sealing LiMA’s place in the tournament’s history books.

‎Speaking moments after the final whistle, Head Coach Thomas Watson hailed his team’s commitment and discipline throughout the competition. He said the back-to-back win is the reward of teamwork, hard work, and consistency. From the opening match to the final, every player gave their best for the badge and the institution.

‎Organized annually by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Intra-Governmental League promotes camaraderie, wellness, and collaboration among public institutions. It has become one of Liberia’s most anticipated inter-agency sporting events, strengthening unity within the civil service through friendly competition.

‎LiMA’s road to glory this year was nothing short of impressive. The team cruised through the group and knockout stages, defeating heavyweights such as the Central Bank of Liberia, the National Port Authority, and the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs. Key players including Sorsor Jeke, Wellington Seah, Jusufu Dolo, Joseph WeahDoh Jr., and Boakai Foday were instrumental in delivering the Authority’s second straight championship title.

‎LiMA’s Commissioner and CEO, Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., praised the champions for their remarkable achievement, dedicating the win to the Authority’s workforce. He said the triumph goes beyond football—it represents perseverance, teamwork, and national pride. The players have embodied the true spirit of LiMA both on and off the field.

‎With this latest victory, the Marine Strikers have cemented their status as the team to beat in the Intra-Governmental League. As celebrations continue, LiMA has already set its sights on a third consecutive championship, determined to extend its legacy of excellence in both sports and service.
