Cairo, Egypt – Hassan Ali Ghazaly, anthropologist and founder of the Afromedia Initiative for Pan-African Journalism and Media, has congratulated H.E. Gohar Nabil on his appointment as Egypt’s new Minister of Youth and Sports following a presidential decree and the administration of his constitutional oath.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Afromedia team, Ghazaly described the appointment as a significant vote of confidence and emphasized that the next phase of leadership in the ministry demands innovative thinking and practical policies aimed at empowering young people and nurturing sports talent across the country.
He stressed that youth and sports development must align with Egypt’s broader state strategy and the vision of the New Republic, positioning sports not only as competition but also as a catalyst for national development.
Ghazaly further underscored the need to deepen Egyptian-African cooperation in the areas of media, youth engagement, and sports. According to him, stronger collaboration would help foster cross-cultural connections, promote shared values, identify emerging African talents, highlight success stories, and advance joint initiatives that contribute to sustainable development across the continent.
He also noted that such partnerships would reinforce Egypt’s soft power presence in Africa while creating meaningful opportunities for young people both domestically and regionally.
Expressing confidence in Minister Nabil’s experience and leadership capabilities, Ghazaly said he believes the new minister is well-positioned to drive progress in the youth and sports sectors, enhance regional partnerships, and deliver tangible benefits for Egyptian and African youth alike.
The Afromedia Initiative reaffirmed its readiness to support national and continental efforts focused on investing in youth potential, strengthening sports infrastructure, and promoting Egypt-Africa cooperation.
