ZORZOR, Lofa County — In observance of the holy month of Ramadan, Jesse B. Korboi, a prominent citizen of Zorzor District and a native of Fissebu Town, has donated 34 bags of 25-kilogram rice to members of the Muslim community in the Zorzor and Salayea districts as part of efforts to support them during the sacred fasting period.

Ramadan is regarded by Muslims worldwide as one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar. During this period, Muslims observe daily fasting from dawn to sunset, engage in increased prayers, charity, and acts of kindness aimed at strengthening faith, compassion, and unity within communities.

Korboi, who is also a representative hopeful for District Five in Lofa County, made the donation as a gesture of solidarity with Muslims observing Ramadan.

The items were officially presented on March 5, 2026, in Zorzor by Stephen Flomo, an advisor to Team Jesse B. Korboi. Flomo handed over the rice to Selekie B. Komala, chairman of the Muslim community, for onward distribution to members of the community.

Also receiving the donation on behalf of the community was the landlord of the Muslim community, who expressed appreciation to the team leader for what he described as a timely and thoughtful gesture.

He noted that the contribution came as a surprise to many in the community and described it as the second-largest donation they have received since the beginning of the fasting period.

“This donation is big to me, because I wasn’t expecting it,” he said.

He further emphasized the spiritual significance of giving during Ramadan.

“This month, even one bag of cold water you give to Musliman is a big blessing for you,” he said.

Community members expressed gratitude for the support, noting that such gestures help ease the burden on Muslim families observing the month-long fast.
