Monrovia — The Deputy Director-General of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Moifee Kanneh, has strongly rejected social media reports claiming a confrontation between him and Director-General Dewitt vonBallmoos, describing the allegations as “totally untrue, malicious, and bent on tarnishing the image” of the institution.
In a Facebook statement posted Thursday, Cllr. Kanneh said he maintains what he called an “exceptional relationship” with his boss, dismissing the widely circulated narrative of a heated internal clash and corruption accusations as fabricated. He warned that the spread of unverified information undermines public confidence in national institutions and called on media practitioners to authenticate reports before publication.
Kanneh further condemned the authors of the story, labeling the claims “diabolical lies” and urging those responsible to desist from circulating misinformation about the corporation. His rebuttal comes amid heightened public attention to the welfare institution, which manages social security and pension funds for thousands of Liberian workers.
The trending report alleged that the deputy publicly accused the Director-General of financial misconduct during a management meeting — a claim Kanneh now says never occurred.
While NASSCORP has not issued a separate institutional statement, the deputy’s response appears aimed at calming tensions and reinforcing the corporation’s internal unity as public scrutiny over governance and pension security continues.
