Senator Cyrus Fulfills Promises with $1,000 Grant to Lutheran University’s Midwifery Valedictorian

Lofa County – In a significant display of commitment to education and local development, Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus has awarded a $1,000 grant to Charlesetta Gbozeh, the 2024 valedictorian of Lutheran University’s Esther Bacon School of Midwifery. The grant was presented during a graduation ceremony where the Senator pledged the funds to support Gbozeh’s further education at Cuttington University in Bong County.

On September 26, 2024, Arthur Kowah, Chief of Staff to Senator Cyrus, facilitated the official presentation at the Senator’s Capitol Building office. He praised Gbozeh for her exceptional academic achievements and encouraged her to utilize the grant effectively for her studies.

“I am truly grateful for this support,” Gbozeh, known as “Classic CG Junequeen,” said. “I promise to use these funds responsibly to further my education.”

Senator Cyrus’s commitment to the community extends beyond educational support. He has recently allocated 734,000 Liberian dollars to various districts in Lofa County, including Kolahun, Wahassa, Lukunbeh, and Foya, aiming to enhance local livelihoods.

Notable allocations include 100,000 Liberian dollars for the women of Kamatahun Tahamba to bolster their weaving initiative, part of a broader commitment of 200,000 Liberian dollars to support women’s empowerment. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, pledging to use the funds effectively.

In Wahassa, the Yedeyama Women Agricultural Group received 50,000 Liberian dollars as part of a total of 100,000 Liberian dollars aimed at agricultural enhancement. Lukunbeh women also received 100,000 Liberian dollars to support similar initiatives.

Additionally, residents of Kamatahun Hasala were awarded $1,500 USD to cover half the cost of a $3,000 USD project for fencing their clinic, with plans for further funding to empower local women.

In Foya District, citizens in Kpadiloe received $500 USD worth of palm seedlings as part of a campaign promise, with an additional $500 USD expected for further support. Community representative Dominic Fendoe expressed appreciation for the Senator’s assistance, emphasizing the need for continued support for local livelihoods.

Over his first eight months in office, Senator Cyrus has garnered praise from residents across the benefiting districts for his proactive approach to development in Lofa County. As he continues to fulfill his campaign promises, the Senator remains committed to improving education and supporting community initiatives.
