Congo Town, Liberia – The Chinese Embassy in Liberia hosted a vibrant reception to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Over 400 attendees gathered for the event, including high-ranking officials such as Hon. Mr. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Vice President of Liberia, Hon. Mr. Sylvester M. Grigsby, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, and Hon. Cllr. Deweh E. Gray, Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The event also drew members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from Chinese enterprises, and members of the overseas Chinese community in Liberia.
Ambassador Yin Chengwu delivered a keynote address reflecting on China’s significant achievements over the past 75 years. He highlighted the principles from the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and discussed the outcomes of the recent Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Ambassador Yin expressed China’s eagerness to collaborate with Liberia to implement strategic initiatives agreed upon by the two nations’ leaders, aiming to elevate the China-Liberia partnership.
In response, Vice President Koung and Minister Grigsby conveyed heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Liberian government. They praised China’s remarkable development and expressed gratitude for its ongoing support in Liberia’s progress.
Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to the one-China principle and emphasized the importance of fostering friendly relations between the two countries.
The evening unfolded in a warm and celebratory atmosphere, with guests raising glasses to toast the enduring friendship between China and Liberia.
The program featured a variety of entertainment, including performances of Chinese and Liberian songs, as well as martial arts demonstrations, all of which were met with enthusiastic applause.
This event underscored the strengthening ties between Liberia and China, highlighting a mutual commitment to cooperation and development in the years to come.
