Monrovia, Liberia — Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister for International Organizations, Karishma Pelham Raad, praised the Maryann Cheeseman School of Home Economics and Cosmetology for its role as a beacon of hope, excellence, discipline, and moral integrity. Speaking at the school’s 52nd graduation ceremony over the weekend, Raad emphasized the institution’s contribution to personal and national development.
Addressing over 132 graduates, Raad described the school as a transformative force, offering essential life skills that significantly enhance the lives of young people, particularly women. She stressed that the vocational training received is more than technical knowledge; it serves as a foundation for resilience and aspiration.

Raad underscored the importance of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, noting that it plays a crucial role in national progress by providing opportunities for those who might otherwise be overlooked. “The country’s future rests in the hands of its youth, particularly its women,” Raad remarked.
She commended the graduates for learning professionalism, ethics, and entrepreneurship, urging them to use these skills as a starting point for their careers. Raad highlighted the increasing demand for skilled workers and encouraged graduates to leverage their education to improve their communities and contribute to the nation’s development.
“Skills are essential to lifting people out of poverty, creating jobs, and building a stronger economy,” Raad stated. She urged graduates to embrace the values of excellence, discipline, and integrity, and to use their newfound skills to make a positive impact on their communities and the future of Liberia.
