MRU-YP conflict worsens as embattled President expels three officials from Liberian Chapter

Monrovia, Liberia_The Leadership of the Mano River union Youth Parliament Liberia chapter, have with immediate effect expelled three of it’s members for what it describes as irresponsible act of vandalism and looting of it’s offices and that of the All African students union and Prime FM Radio station.

Those expelled from the Mano River union youth Parliament Liberia chapter are J. Benedict Paye from Margibi county, Preston Davies, of Grand Gedeh county, and Kupee S. Washington of Grand Kru counties.

A fortnight ago, on March 16, 2024, a Group led by J. Benedict Paye claiming to be members of the majority Block of the 4th Mano River union youth Parliament passed a vote of no confidence judgment in the Leadership of Daniel Nills as speaker of the Parliament for what they described as wanton corruptions, misused of power, misappropriation of Parliament’s funds, reckless and irresponsible leadership contour.

The group alleged that the Liberian government through the ministry of youth and sports reportedly provided fifty thousand united states dollars ($50,000.00) to the Daniel Nills’ leadership to conduct Parliamentary activities but said funds were reported siphoned.

In reaction, the Speaker of the Mano River union youth Parliament chapter in Liberia Hon, Daniel Nills have expelled the three officials from the Pailiment in keeping with the revised statutes rule 36(B) which states, in the absence of the Plenary, the Leadership shall take appropriate actions such as suspension and or expulsion of members in the interest of the Parliament for act of theft, burglary,rape and other acts that brings the Parliament to public disrepute.

It can be recalled of December of 2023, a session was convened in Buchanan, Grand Bassa county in keeping with the statute, of the Parliament sadly, the process got undermined,as colleagues boycotted the Plenary thereby halting the proceedings of the session,upon the return of the members to Monrovia, as the expelled individuals of the parliament initiated a smear campaign against the leadership of the institution alleging of corruptions, proceedings bad governance and misapplied of funds.

Mr, Nills however accused the three expelled members of the parliament of inflicting bodily wounds on the office assistant Ms, Blessings Jealdeo while dragging her out and took away her two phones there by locking the office and took away the keys.

The speaker of the Mano River union youth Parliament further accused Hon Preston Davies, and J Benedict Paye of taking away valuable items worth over 7,000 united states’ dollars from the office of the Parliament as all attempts made by the occupants in the building to intervene proved unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Mano River union youth Parliament Liberia chapter, Mr, Daniel Nills is warning Hon, Jeremiah D.Moye of Bong county and Hon, Anthony Menlor of Nimba County who are believed to be associates of the three expelled members to desists from such acts inimical to the workings of the Parliament or face the wrath of similar action.
