China has provided a US$30 million development grant to Liberia to support key projects under President Joseph Boakai’s ARREST Agenda.
The grant agreement was signed on October 27, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia, following Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti’s official visit to Beijing in May 2026.
Foreign Minister Nyanti expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the people of China for turning diplomatic engagements into concrete support. She reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to deepening ties with China in trade, investment and job creation.
Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, said the grant demonstrates Beijing’s continued commitment to Liberia’s development, noting several Chinese-funded projects currently underway across the country.
The $30 million package is seen as a major boost to Liberia-China relations and a dividend of sustained bilateral cooperation.
