Monrovia, Liberia – The Revolutionary National Youth League of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has called for an immediate investigation into Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation Managing Director Mohammed “Mo” Ali and Gender Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie over the alleged public disclosure of personal information belonging to vulnerable children.
In a statement issued Friday, September 12, the Youth League alleged that Ali on September 11 posted a spreadsheet on Facebook containing the names, addresses, ages, and school details of children described as survivors of abuse and neglect. The group further alleged that the information was provided to Ali by Minister Horace-Kollie.
According to the Youth League, publishing the children’s details exposes them to further harm, exploitation, and stigmatization.
The group claimed the alleged action violates Liberia’s Children’s Law and international child protection protocols, and called on authorities to ensure the spreadsheet is immediately removed from Facebook.
The Youth League said it has formally written to the Ministry of Justice, the Liberia National Police, the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, and human rights organizations to investigate the matter, insisting its call is about child protection and not politics.
As of press time, neither Mr. Ali nor Minister Horace-Kollie had publicly responded to the allegations.
