Monrovia, Documents published online appear to link a vehicle in Deputy Commissioner Fitzgerald T. M. Biago’s convoy to George Wha Harris alias “Leroy Harris,” the man charged in connection with Liberia’s US$317 million cocaine bust. The LDEA boss is rejecting the claim.
In a Facebook post Wednesday evening, activist Martin K. N. Kollie alleged that Biago operates a grey Toyota Hilux pickup, plate A532084, that is not government-owned. Kollie attached what he said were MOT registration details showing the vehicle registered to Harris, with entry date November 12, 2024 and expiry November 11, 2025. The post also listed a phone number, 0880812971, which Kollie said matches Harris’ mobile money record.
Kollie went further. He accused the cocaine cartel of gifting the pickup to Biago and alleged that another vehicle was bought for Biago’s wife, Mrs. Valerie Pennoh Biago, in Paynesville. He said the car was moved from their yard after his initial post. “The Drug Cartel succeeded in infiltrating and neutralizing the national security sector,” Kollie wrote, calling for Biago’s immediate resignation, dismissal, and prosecution.
The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency responded Thursday morning. “DCP Biago states that he neither received nor accepted the vehicle described in the allegation and did not authorize anyone to receive it on his behalf,” the LDEA said. The Agency added it has “no credible record, documentation, or evidence substantiating the claim.”
The LDEA did not dismiss public scrutiny. It urged anyone with credible evidence of misconduct to submit it for independent review and warned that unverified allegations can damage reputations and weaken confidence in security institutions. The Agency reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy for corruption and said any substantiated violation will face legal and disciplinary action.
Biago has served as interim Officer-in-Charge of the LDEA since late August 2025, following his appointment by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
