Philip Yeoh Jr. Charged, Forwarded to Court in Alleged Cocaine Trafficking Case

MONROVIA, Liberia – The Ministry of Justice has charged and forwarded Philip Yeoh Jr. to court for prosecution in connection with an alleged international cocaine trafficking operation linked to Roberts International Airport.

According to a police charge sheet released Monday, Yeoh faces counts of criminal facilitation, criminal solicitation, criminal conspiracy, and concealing property derived from a drug offense.

Authorities allege that Yeoh assisted co-defendant Paul J. King and others after six boxes suspected to contain cocaine were intercepted. Investigators say the boxes were mislabeled as Lappas rice and Maggi cubes and were being prepared for shipment from RIA to London Heathrow Airport.

The Ministry of Justice claims the consignment was cleared using false cargo declarations filed through Express Handling Services. Officials say King allegedly presented the items as ordinary commercial goods, but subsequent inspection determined the boxes contained narcotics.

Prosecutors further allege that following the seizure, Yeoh tried to negotiate the release of the six boxes on behalf of King and other suspected members of the network. During questioning in the presence of his lawyer, Cllr. Ernest J. Dunbar, Yeoh reportedly denied involvement in the trafficking ring but acknowledged seeking the release of the shipment, investigators said.

The state says its case is backed by witness statements, investigative findings, and an alleged statement provided by co-defendant Paul J. King.

With the investigation into Yeoh concluded, the Ministry of Justice has forwarded the case to court. Officials noted that probes into other individuals believed to be part of the alleged trafficking network are still ongoing.

The allegations against Philip Yeoh Jr. remain unproven. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
