Monrovia — Nominated Assistant Minister for Peace Building a (Non-existent position) Mike Jabateh unloaded on political commentator Kanio Bai Gbala during a heated Spoon FM appearance Wednesday, branding him a “political hustler who passes around from office to office.”
Jabateh accused Gbala of shifting allegiances for survival, claiming the commentator once served as bodyguard to former Port Manager Bill Twehway and ex-Finance Minister Samuel Tweah before becoming “a mouthpiece for our government that he did not support.”
“Where were you when we campaigned for this government? Where were you when you were inciting people against President Joseph Boakai?” Jabateh asked. “Then you want to come and advise me. Who are you to advise me?”
The Assistant Minister challenged Gbala’s political relevance and record of public service. “You and myself, if you say let’s go and campaign today, people will listen to me more than they will listen to you,” he said. “What have you done for anyone here besides talk-talk?”
Jabateh alleged Gbala’s routine is to “hustle” each new administration. “Any government comes to power, you turn to political hustler. You hustle on this government. You hustle on that other government.”
He contrasted his own approach with Gbala’s, saying he interacts with and helps citizens instead of “wearing coat suit passing around whole day from office to office like Kanio.”
“There is no Minister in this government that will tell you Mike Jabateh visited my office,” Jabateh added.
Gbala, a frequent Spoon FM guest, has yet to publicly respond to the remarks.
