
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has officially announced the opening of applications for Liberians seeking to pursue advanced studies in the maritime sector, offering a pathway to professional development in one of the country’s most strategic industries.
According to the Authority, application forms will be available for pickup beginning April 9, 2026, at its headquarters in Oldest Congo Town, located opposite the Ministerial Complex. Completed applications, along with all required supporting documents, must be submitted by April 13, 2026, at LiMA’s Training Department.
An aptitude test for all applicants is scheduled for April 18, 2026, also at the Authority’s headquarters.
Expanding Opportunities in Maritime Education
LiMA’s latest initiative underscores its commitment to strengthening Liberia’s maritime workforce by providing access to globally relevant academic programs. At the postgraduate level, applicants can pursue Master of Science degrees in International Shipping and Logistics, Maritime Safety, Security and Risk Management, Renewable Energy, and Maritime Law.
For undergraduate candidates, the Authority is offering Bachelor’s degree programs in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, and Marine Electrical/Electronic Engineering—fields considered critical to the growth and sustainability of the maritime sector.
China Scholarships Boost Access
In a significant boost for aspiring students, LiMA also announced two fully funded scholarship opportunities provided by the Government of the People’s Republic of China. The scholarships are aimed at supporting qualified and deserving Liberians who wish to further their studies abroad in maritime-related disciplines.
The application process for these scholarships will follow the same timeline and requirements as the general admission process.
