The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has welcomed China’s recent diplomatic efforts focused on maintaining stability and ensuring safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement follows a courtesy visit by LiMA’s Commissioner/CEO, Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., to the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia.
Discussions during the meeting highlighted growing concerns over maritime security, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding shipping lanes. Both parties underscored the importance of ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions and safeguarding critical global trade routes.
LiMA reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation in strengthening maritime security and protecting commercial vessels and their crews. The Authority emphasized that uninterrupted access through the Strait of Hormuz remains essential, noting that a significant number of ships under Liberia’s registry depend on these waters for international trade.
Commissioner Lighe reiterated Liberia’s dedication ,to upholding global maritime safety standards, stressing that regional stability is crucial not only for commerce but also for the well-being of seafarers.
The Authority also expressed its continued support for diplomatic solutions designed to secure international shipping corridors and pledged to work closely with global partners to enhance safety across maritime routes.
