LiMA Applauds China’s Efforts to Ensure Safe Navigation in Strait of Hormuz

The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has expressed support for China’s recent diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting stability and safeguarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This follows a courtesy visit by LiMA’s Commissioner/CEO, Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., to the Chinese Embassy in Liberia.

During the meeting, both sides discussed rising concerns about maritime safety, particularly within the Strait of Hormuz and nearby shipping routes. Emphasis was placed on ongoing peace-driven efforts to reduce tensions and protect key global trade corridors.

LiMA reiterated its alignment with international efforts to strengthen maritime security, ensuring the safety of commercial vessels and their crews. The Authority noted that uninterrupted access through the Strait of Hormuz is critical, as thousands of ships under Liberia’s registry rely on these routes for global commerce.

Commissioner Lighe reaffirmed Liberia’s dedication to upholding international maritime safety standards, stressing that stability in the region is vital not only for trade but also for the welfare of seafarers.

LiMA further stated its full support for diplomatic measures aimed at securing international shipping lanes and pledged continued collaboration with global partners to enhance safety across all maritime routes.
