By Staff Writer

Monrovia, Liberia — Liberian economist and outspoken political figure Samuel Jackson has announced the tragic passing of his wife, ending hours of emotional social media updates in which he had pleaded for prayers as she battled for her life.

‎In a brief but heartbreaking message posted on his Facebook page, Jackson confirmed the loss:

‎“My wife didn’t make it. I just said my final goodbye. God knows best.”

‎The announcement came after a series of distressing posts he shared earlier, describing the critical medical situation and the struggle to secure urgent care.

‎At one point, Jackson revealed that his wife had collapsed and was receiving treatment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital, commonly known as Catholic Hospital.

‎“My wife fell out. Semi conscious at Catholic Hospital. Prayers please!!!”

‎As the situation worsened, the economist lamented the lack of emergency support, stating that the ambulance needed to transport her was not immediately available.

‎“Aye my country. Two places. Ambulance is down in the garage. Only God can help this woman. I’m just calm. God. We need a miracle. Can’t fly her out until she’s stable.”

‎In another post made before her passing, Jackson thanked supporters who had been sending messages and prayers as the family fought to save her life.

‎“My greatest appreciation to all of the well wishers. We are not out of danger yet. We need your prayers. God bless and keep us all!”

‎News of the death has triggered an outpouring of condolences and emotional reactions online, with many Liberians expressing sympathy for the grieving family while also raising broader concerns about the country’s emergency healthcare system.

‎As of now, Jackson has not released further details about the cause of death or funeral arrangements.

‎The loss marks a deep personal tragedy for the economist, who is widely known in Liberia for his outspoken views on governance and national development.
