The Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., has called on employees to rededicate themselves to the Authority’s strategic goals as LiMA positions itself for greater competitiveness, stronger revenue performance, and expanded global visibility in 2026.
Addressing staff at LiMA’s year-end celebration held in Paynesville on December 30, 2025, Commissioner Lighe praised the institution’s accomplishments in 2025, while encouraging employees to strive for even higher standards in the year ahead.
He noted that while the past year yielded positive results, sustained effort and improved performance would be key to ensuring that 2026 surpasses those gains.
Commissioner Lighe stressed that when employees demonstrate commitment and excellence, it reinforces the responsibility of management to ensure that staff welfare and benefits correspond with the outcomes of their collective efforts.
He explained that the end-of-year gathering served as a valuable platform for management and staff to review successes and challenges from the outgoing year, draw lessons, and apply those insights toward more effective planning and execution in 2026.
As a direct outcome of LiMA’s strong showing in 2025, the Commissioner disclosed that the Board of Directors has approved the payment of employee bonuses during the first quarter of 2026.
He further encouraged staff to maintain their dedication and teamwork in support of the Authority’s mission.
The event also included the honoring of employees from various departments who distinguished themselves through outstanding performance and commitment over the year. Ms. Erica David of the Department of International Affairs received the Employee of the Year award.
Additional awardees included Victoria Toby, Mrs. Roseline Cole-Mator, Mr. Ayoub Sheriff, and Mr. Edwin Willie from the Department of Administration; Mr. Chris M. Johnson from Domestic Vessel Registration; Ms. Dehkontee Taweh from Finance; Mr. Joseph T. Kangba from Maritime Security; and Mr. George Nayan from Search and Rescue, among others.
Speaking on behalf of the honorees, Employee of the Year Erica David expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as an unexpected but motivating honor that encourages staff to consistently perform at their best.
LiMA’s year-end celebration highlighted the Authority’s emphasis on excellence, staff motivation, and a shared commitment to advancing a stronger and more effective maritime administration in 2026.
