Congo Town, Liberia – Amin Modad has officially resigned as Minister of Commerce & Industry, citing public outcry regarding a recent vehicle purchase exceeding $45,000.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to President Joseph N. Boakai Sr., Modad stated, “Though I have provided all documentations and facts that equivocally demonstrate that there was no malfeasance, I am deeply concerned about the impact on my integrity and the administration.” He expressed his desire to step aside, noting that the controversy has become “a distraction from the real national issues and your agenda.”
Modad, who served in his role for nine months, conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the nation and wished the administration well. His resignation raises significant questions about the challenges facing Liberia’s leadership amidst pressing national issues.
