Foya District, Lofa County — A landslide struck Kilima Pormbor Town in the Tengia Administrative District of Foya Statutory District early this morning. Acting Commissioner Mr. Tamba D. Flomo confirmed that the landslide occurred around 3:00 a.m. local time, following a report from resident hunter Mr. Tamba Fallah.
Commissioner Flomo further narrated that Mr. Fallah was hunting near Fenbadu Hill when he heard a significant noise and observed the area around him suddenly become clear. As he approached a swamp area, he found it completely covered in debris from the landslide. This swamp, previously cultivated with rice seedlings by a local farmer, was buried under the mud.
The incident was immediately reported to the town chief, and Acting Commissioner Flomo arrived on-site later today to assess the damage. The affected area is approximately a 40-minute walk from the town center and a 20-minute drive from Foya City.
Meanwhile, authorities are urging residents to avoid the site as assessment efforts begin.
Foya, known as the most populated district in Lofa County, has recently experienced soil variation in Yegbedu Town and now landslide in Kilima Pormbor Town, raising the concerns of safety in the district.
