Monrovia, Liberia – The Youth Congress of the Unity Party Alliance of Political Parties has strongly criticized Minister of Commerce and Industry Amin Modad for his alleged interference in the Liberia Standards Authority (LSA).

Speaking to reporters in Congo Town over the weekend, UP Alliance Youth Congress Chairman Trokon George accused Minister Modad of violating the 2022 law that established LSA as a semi-autonomous body. George claimed that Modad’s actions have undermined LSA’s leadership and turned the institution into a personal domain, disregarding legal protections against corruption and political interference.

George further alleged that Modad has blocked LSA’s council meetings, stalled the election of a co-chairperson, and delayed crucial rule-making processes, which he called a betrayal of the Liberian people’s trust.

“This is an assault on the working class of Liberia,” George stated. “The youth are watching, and we are prepared to act. We demand President Joseph Boakai restore order by allowing Director General Kahnsualism Kahnsuah to lead LSA as mandated by law.”

The Youth Congress has also called for the immediate removal of Minister Amin Modad from his position, citing his alleged violations of the Standard Authority Act and the endangerment of public trust.
