Monrovia, Liberia– President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has ordered a sweeping shakeup of Liberia’s security and government institutions, dismissing and suspending senior officials linked to the country’s two largest drug seizures this year valued at $336 million.
The announcement Thursday at the Executive Mansion followed President Boakai’s review of status reports on investigations into 198 plates of cocaine seized at Roberts International Airport on June 8, 2026, worth $19 million, and 3,971 plates confiscated in VOA Community, Margibi County, on July 21, 2026, worth $317 million.
In the first wave of actions, the President dismissed Mr. Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations at RIA; Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL; and Mr. Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration at the National Security Agency.
Mr. Patrick Komasu, an NSA agent seconded to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, was recalled, suspended without pay, and placed under investigation pending further findings.
The President also ordered the immediate dismissal of all government employees and law enforcement officers indicted in the two cases. They include RIA Security Director Mohammed O. Gbowrah and LDEA Deputy Commander Moses Jallah, both of whom served at Roberts International Airport.
Two Liberia National Police officers, Anthony T. Blaye and Wadell W. Kwarbo, were dismissed for allegedly using official government vehicles to transport a narcotics consignment from Vincent Town on the Bomi Highway to the vicinity of Mega Mart in Thinker Village, Paynesville.
Four other individuals were ordered dismissed and forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution. They are NSA agents Jammel V. Jallah, Christian L. Nyantee, and Albenigo Janior, and Caycee Nelson, Procurement Director at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
President Boakai said the moves reflect his administration’s commitment to accountability and the rule of law. “These actions demonstrate his Administration’s resolve to ensure that no public official or government employee who engages in criminal conduct remains in public service,” the Executive Mansion release stated.
The President directed all security and law enforcement institutions to intensify investigations and ensure that every individual connected to the cases is brought before the courts in accordance with due process. He stressed that the government will enforce the law “without fear or favor.”
The dismissals come days after joint security forces publicly destroyed the $336 million worth of cocaine at the LMHRA disposal site in Mambah-Kaba. The Executive Mansion said the government will continue to dismantle trafficking networks, strengthen national security, and protect Liberia’s international reputation as prosecutions move forward.
