Bedtime: Linda Thomas-Greenfield to Attend Boakai’s Inaugural event on Behalf of President Biden of the US

President Joe Biden will be represented by Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US ambassador to the UN, when she travels to Liberia to attend President-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s inauguration. Over President Boakai’s six-year term, her visit seeks to further the long-standing bilateral ties between the US and Liberia.

When Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield arrives in Liberia on Sunday, January 21, 2024, she plans to take part in the much awaited inauguration ceremony on Monday, January 22, 2024, in the Capitol, the prestigious location of the National Legislature of Liberia.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s visit highlights the US commitment to promoting international relations and democratic processes in light of the US’s longstanding relationship with Liberia.

The participation of a senior U.S. official highlights the importance of this transition as President Boakai takes office after a calm and widely recognized election.

As a longtime ally of Liberia, the United States views Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s visit as a chance to discuss potential areas of cooperation in vital fields including infrastructure development, healthcare, and education in order to promote prosperity and sustainable development.
