Gbarpolu County Senator Daniel Naatehn Passes Away During Medical Treatment in India

Monrovia, Liberia – Gbarpolu County Senator Daniel Naatehn, who also served as the Chairman of the opposition Alternative National Congress led by Alexander Benedict Cummings, has tragically passed away in India. He was undergoing medical treatment in the country when he breathed his last earlier August 8, 2023.

The demise of Senator Naatehn marks the second loss of a prominent lawmaker ahead of the forthcoming October 10th elections. The first loss occurred on July 18th, 2023, with the passing of Honorable Hans Barchue, who represented Grand Bassa County District #1. Both Naatehn and Barchue were members of the Collaborating Political Parties and the Unity Party, and had been aspiring for re-election in the upcoming Presidential and Legislative Elections.The passing of Senator Naatehn has cast a somber atmosphere over Liberia’s political landscape, with citizens and fellow politicians mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant. Naatehn’s commitment to his constituents and his contributions to the political discourse will be remembered as his legacy.
