Fishmongers In Montserrado, Grand Bassa Wants Pres. Boakai Maintain NaFAA Boss Emma Glassco; Petitions HOR to Intervene

Monrovia, Liberia– As the debate of unlawful appointments at tenure positions by President Boakai intensifies across the country, the Liberia Attritional Fisheries Association (LAFA) are calling on the 55th National Legislature to caution the president to retain Madame Glassco at NaFFA for the expansion of the fishery sector of Liberia.

The Association presenting its plights at Capitol Hill, asked the House of Representatives to join their efforts in calling on the Liberian leader to have clemency on the NaFAA Director General, as she has immensely contributed to the growth of the institution.

The petitioners explained that their actions is predicated upon the meaningful initiatives undertaken by madam Glassco coupled with her cordial working relationship with the staffers.

According to current statistics, the Liberian fishery sector has experienced rapid growth and development under the stewardship of DG Glassco attracting foreign partners such as the world Bank.

“We the fish Mongoose of Liberia, we gathered here today to appeal to you as our legislature to caution our president inorder to grant our director general clemency due to her goodwill and the empowerment she has been providing for us” one of the Ladies noted.

The Association says the Provision of Solar panels, Freezers, Lifejacket, auto motor engine and international training for the Sector are sufficient reasons to allow Glassco complete her tenure.

Meanwhile, the petition statement was received by Rep. Kekulah M. Kamara of Montserrado county District #14 on behalf of the committee on claims and petitions at the lower house.

He lauded the petitioners with a promise to forward the communication to the plenary of the House of Representatives for Legislative consideration.
