– Obasanjo says if Jesus Christ were in Nigeria at this time, he would have spoken out about the country’s situation
– The former president urges Nigerians to remain united to tackle the country’s challenges together
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s former president, has spoken again about the state of the nation and lamented that if Jesus were in the country, he would not be silent at this time.
Obasanjo, who spoke in Ogun state when he attended the annual national convention of the Foursquare Gospel Church, said the country needed the contribution of the clergy more than before.
According to him, the people have a lot to do concerning the state of the country if they want Nigeria to survive and meet their dreams.
He said one of the biggest mistake Nigeria will ever make is for the people not to stay together. “We would be devoured and that we should not take lightly.”
He said if Jesus was in the country today, he would speak up and say things the way they should be. “He would speak truth to power,” he said adding that he would have done so without fear and intimidation.
He urged Christians to speak out the way Jesus would have done since they always have to be like Christ.
Obasanjo urged the new head of the church, Rev Samuel Aboyeji, to ensure he leads and move the body to an enviable height.
