Monrovia – District 10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah has accused the Liberian Joint Security of consistent harassment under the patronage of the State of Emergency (SOE)
In his letter to the Speaker, Representative informed his Colleagues that Law Enforcement Officers are seen harassing peaceful citizens in spite of the expiration of SOE that was authorized by the 54th Legislature.
Representative Kolubah added that President George M. Weah’s request seeking an extension of the SOE in order to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 has not been approved by the Legislature; therefore, State Securities are acting illegally.
He sees the erection of illegal checkpoints and harassment of marketers in and around Monrovia totally unacceptable and solicit his Colleagues approval to invite the Minister of Justice, Cllr. Frank Musa Dean to clarify why the Joint Security is harassing citizens and erecting checkpoints in the absence of Legislative approval to extend the State of Emergency (SOE).
